1761 — George Washington visited the springs for his own health.

1767 — George Washington vacationed with Martha and Patsy; Lord Fairfax was also at the springs.

1769 — George Washington visited again for a month with Martha and Patsy; Lord Fairfax was also at the springs.

1770 — Berkeley Springs were becoming very popular.

1772 — Young James Madison came to bathe for his health.

1772 — The springs, including the settlement around the springs, were part of a newly formed Berkeley County.
